SITUATION

A Midwest refinery's CoGen unit was 20 years old, and their GE turbine exhaust joints were experiencing excessive heat loss and affecting unit efficiency. EagleBurgmann offered to perform a thermal image survey of the site's gas turbine exhaust joints at no charge, and provide recommendations for scheduled repair maintenance.

 

EXPANSION JOINTS SOLUTIONS

After reviewing the survey findings, the customer placed a first time PO with EagleBurgmann for a new gas turbine exhaust joint in October 2019. Soon after, EagleBurgmann received the second PO for the second unit. Post­-installation temperatures were lowered by almost a factor 10 as compared to pre-installation. Happy with the results, the customer asked EagleBurgmann to continue with scheduled surveys on both gas turbine units as well as all equipment downstream of the gas turbines, and to report any other problematic expansion joints.

 

SUCCESS STORY

To date, EagleBurgmann has installed two exhaust joints and more than 50 fabric penetration seals, and continues to provide ongoing support with thermal surveys every quarter to ensure optimal performance.
