BACKGROUND
A midstream company was challenged by high nitrogen consumption and excessive process gas leakage. For this application, the nitrogen was supplied by truck to support the separation seal and secondary seals in a propylene refrigerant compressor. The high nitrogen consumption resulted in higher costs, and the high seal gas leakage from the dry gas seal resulted in recharging the refrigerant loop often.
CHALLENGE
The customer was facing two issues:

High consumption of nitrogen due to the seals and system design

Excessive process gas seal leakage due to seal design.
SOLUTION
EagleBurgmann installed DGS20-200-ZT7-L & DGS20-200-ZT8-R seals with modifications to the support system.
